Founded in 2004 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Blessed 26, Inc. was created to change the narrative for underserved teenage boys in New Orleans. What began as a small community effort has grown into a city-wide movement, driven by committed mentors, educators, and volunteers. As we revitalize our mission, we remain focused on one goal: shaping young men into confident leaders with character and vision.

Meet our Founder and CEO – Kendal Francis
Kendal Francis is a man on a mission with the fierce belief that every young person deserves a shot at greatness. Raised in the small town of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Kendal learned early on what community leadership looked like by watching his father light the path for others. He’s been walking that path ever since — sometimes sprinting, sometimes sidestepping — but always with purpose.
A Tulane football alum (Go Green Wave!), Kendal originally came to New Orleans chasing NFL dreams. Though those dreams took a detour, he gained something even greater — a lifelong calling. After trading in newsroom chaos for purpose-driven mentorship, Kendal poured his passion into founding Blessed 26 in 2004. The name? A nod to his college jersey number — and a reminder that God’s plan isn’t always in your playbook.
Kendal is more than a founder. He’s a mentor who doesn’t define the kids he serves by their struggles — he defines them by their grit, brilliance, and determination.
At the heart of everything Kendal does is one goal: to show up for young people the way others once showed up for him. And if he has his way? He’ll make sure the next generation of leaders is even stronger, louder, and bolder than the last.
