Our Story

Founded in 2004 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Blessed 26, Inc. was created to change the narrative for underserved teenage boys in New Orleans. What began as a small community effort has grown into a city-wide movement, driven by committed mentors, educators, and volunteers. As we revitalize our mission, we remain focused on one goal: shaping young men into confident leaders with character and vision.

Discover our mission-driven approach

To empower teenage boys in underserved New Orleans communities by equipping them with life skills, character development, and mentorship that fosters long-term personal and professional success.

A future where every young man in New Orleans—regardless of circumstance—has the tools, support, and belief to lead with purpose, integrity, and excellence.

Our core values guide everything we do—shaping how we lead, how we serve, and how we inspire the next generation.

Meet our Founder and CEO – Kendal Francis

Kendal Francis is a man on a mission, driven by the belief that every young person deserves a real shot at success. Raised in Green Cove Springs, Florida, Kendal grew up watching his father lead with heart — a blueprint he’s followed ever since.

After earning a football scholarship to Tulane (Go Green Wave!), Kendal planted roots in New Orleans. His NFL dreams shifted, but his purpose grew stronger. With more than 23 years in TV news, Kendal discovered his true calling in mentorship, leading him to launch Blessed 26 in 2004 — named after his college jersey number and a reminder that God’s plan often rewrites your own.

More than a founder, Kendal is a hands-on mentor who sees potential over problems. He leads with compassion, humor, and unwavering belief in the power of community.

His mission? To be the kind of support he once needed — and to help raise up a generation of bold, brilliant leaders.
